Ning Hai was based on the experimental Japanese cruiser Yūbari, which combined a small size with heavy weaponry, but in an even smaller displacement of only 2,526 t (2,486 long tons). As with Yūbari, Ning Hai has a single trunked smokestack, and a tripod bridge arrangement. Her weaponry was comparable to ships with a larger displacement: six 14 cm/50 3rd Year Type naval guns mounted in three double gun turrets, six 8 cm/40 3rd Year Type naval guns, and dual 533-mm torpedo tubes. Ning Hai also had a small hangar for two seaplanes; two Aichi AB-3 biplanes, one bought from Japan and one built locally using a spare engine and domestic materials, were assigned to it. There was no aircraft catapult, and the seaplanes were hoisted onto and deployed using a crane.

Ning Hai sunk 9/23/37 (captured by Japanese on 12/5/37). Repaired at Sasebo and commisioned as Ioshima (Escort ship) on 6/10/44. Sunk by USS Shad on 9/19/44

The Yasoshima E-class is in-game and has some resemblance to the Chinese CLs (hull and funnel), but the topside is otherwise very different. Even so, these are the ships which should be modded into the CL configuration.

Combinedfleet.com has a story on both ships:

Interesting photos, including torpedoes being loaded on Ning Hai and a seaplane being hoisted aboard:

NOTE: LST's mod ("Bottlenecks in the Pacific") has both ships, but they don't have bmps. If you want to add them to his mod, look for these ship classes:
ID 845: exNing Hai
ID 850: exPing Hai

To put them in-game, you'd need to assign them two unique file numbers (he uses 402.bmp which is a generic pic for all ship classes without custom bmps) and save/overwrite the scenario.
